CLUB PACIFIC VOLLEYBALL CLUB

2009 Season

The season has been a very good one with many successes and lots of volleyball knowledge learned.  As we come into the last few months of the season we hope that you are enjoying your team and coaches.  We still have some great events left such as the Local Tournament Finals for our local teams and the last few mandatory events and Regional finals for the travel teams.  I would like to wish all teams the best of luck in their upcoming events.

Also as a reminder for those teams that are playing in the Summer Soiree please make sure that you get your fees in as soon as possible as we have put down deposits for hotels, entry fees to the tournament, and other registration that is required.  It should be a great event and I am looking forward to getting to watch some great volleyball. The deadline for final payment of $275 is June 1 and a payment button is available under Club Dues.

Also, please do not forget that we will be having Summer Volleyball Camps this year.  The dates are:
Girls All Level Camp:  July 6-9 from 9AM – Noon
Girls Elite Camp:  July 13-16 from 9AM – Noon

Download the registration form here and mail to:

If you have questions please call us at (619) 204-5760.  The cost is $125 per camp and you can mail a check or pay via Paypal on the Club Dues page.

Best of luck for the rest of the season!

OUR COACHING BELIEFS

REPETITION

Repetition is a key element to our coaching beliefs. Every effort should be made to maximize ball touches for every practice. The more time spent correctly executing the drill the better the athletes will become. Every minute we have in the gym is important. "If you are not getting better, then you are getting worse - you don't just stay the same." Coaches need to incorporate the warm up into a drill. We would rather have the athletes warming up while touching the ball as opposed to running. If conditioning is needed, then time should be set aside prior to or after your two hour practice block.

PREPARATION

It is our responsibility as coaches to be prepared with a practice plan. We should have in mind what our general goals for the team to accomplish are for at least three practices in advance. Then you can adjust your thoughts as each practice approaches. If we don't prepare then we are not doing our job and cannot expect our athletes to do theirs.

FUNDAMENTALS

We believe in the proper execution of the fundamentals. Before athletes can grow as players they must first be able to properly execute the fundamentals. It is our responsibility as coaches to ensure our players can perform basic volleyball skills using proper form and technique by:

    * Instruction
    * Demonstration
    * Drill Repetition
    * Praise & Correction

Club Pacific Volleyball Club was originally founded by Mark Warner in 1993 as Asics Pacific Volleyball Club. We changed our name in 1995 to Club Pacific and by 1996 we had grown to 16 teams, ages 14 to 18. In 1998 we merged with the San Diego Volleyball Club to form the Kaepa San Diego Volleyball Club. Since the 1999 season we have been known as Club Pacific.  Club Pacific was reorganized in 2007 to prepare for Mark Warner’s retirement in 2008.
